Profile

DRN is a non profit making, nongovernmental national organization established in 2014 registered in Lalitpur under the non government organization act, 2034 from Chief District Office Lalitpur and affiliated with Social Welfare Council of Nepal.

It is working with national stakeholders and international organizations for generating mass awareness, capacity building and advocacy for disaster risk reduction, environment protection, climate change and natural resources conservation with right based approach to the community people as well as policy makers, development workers and civil society. DRN is also working in conserving the water resources like ground water, well, lakes, falls, rivers and rain-water through creating awareness to the community people. At the mean time, it conducts numbers of trainings to conserve these water resources getting destroyed from natural disasters.

Vision

Every people have well knowledge and capacity to cope environmental hazards and resilience to disaster with the best practice and participation living without poverty, environmental and disaster injustice around the Nation.

Mission

The mission of the Disaster Reduction Nepal (DRN) is to:

  • Generate nationwide awareness among the people on disaster risks and their management.
  • Work on the capacity building of local communities on disaster risk mitigation, preparedness, rescue, relief, rehabilitation and reconstructions.
  • Exploit all available resources at times of emergencies to provide immediate rescue and relief assistance to the victims of disasters.
  • urban management and development and water conservation,

Goal

Insure people’s capacity to access over resources for sustainable livelihood, quality life, and resilience to disaster and environmental degradation for their secure future.
